Hello! I’m Mrs. Kelly Chambers, the Media Specialist/Librarian. I’m certified through the state of Florida. I earned my B.A. in English at The Catholic University of America, and my M.Ed in Secondary Education in the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT) service teaching program at Providence College.
I’ve worked in Catholic education as an English teacher for the majority of my career, with 3 years at St. Mary High School (Westfield, MA) and 9 years at St. John’s College High School (Washington, DC). In 2015 I joined the United States Peace Corps as a TELLS (Teaching English, Leadership, and Life Skills) Volunteer in the beautiful country of Panamá. In that role I mainly worked as a teacher trainer for English secondary and college professors. Si, hablo español! I loved my time in Panamá, and when I returned after my 2.5 years of service, I decided to change paths and pursue librarianship. I was the Media Specialist at Braden River Middle for 3 years, but I decided to join the SJCS family when the part time position opened up, allowing me time with our son, born in September 2021. I was married in 2020 to my husband Brian, and I gained 2 wonderful daughters through our marriage. I am on campus on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. I work with grades Pre-K-8th.
Bradenton is where I grew up. I received all my sacraments, with the exception of baptism, from St. Joseph Catholic Church. I’m proud to work at and send my children to SJCS.
