North Campus Improvement Project:
6 Classroom Early Learning Center/ Aftercare Center-
Now that the Portable Buildings have been removed, we are moving forward with plans to install a NEW Early Learning Education Center/ Aftercare Center. Since 2015, our enrollment has grown from 180 to 292 students. Our goal is to raise an additional $800,000 to increase the size of our Campus to meet the needs of families wanting to provide their children with a Catholic Education in Manatee County. We currently have waiting lists for several grade levels.
Removal of the Portable Buildings - Removal Complete
Both buildings are over 50 years old with one no longer in use due to deterioration. The school has been experiencing growth during recent years, and increased space is needed to support additional classroom needs. The current portable buildings need to be removed to make room for replacement with a new structure with a Early Learning Center with 6 classrooms.
Playground Replacement and Updates- Funds raised and installation in process
SJCS is in need of a complete update of the Early Learning Playground to provide for safe surfaces and updated equipment. The improvements would include clean, cushioned surfacing; interactive equipment that will allow for outdoor play and learning; and play surfaces for tricycles and peddled toys for gross motor development. * Once complete the Early Learning Playground will be dedicated Mrs. Glenda O' Connor a teacher who sadly passed away from Covid-19 in 2021.
Minor Changes and Updates to the Main Playground- Funds raised and installation in procress
Updates will include resealing of the blacktop area between the school and grassy playground area as well as painting of Four Square and Hopscotch sections. Updates will include an Installation of Sensory and Interactive Pathways for use during recess and academic learning.
Classroom Lighting Replacement- In process
Lighting throughout the classrooms needs to be updated to provide energy savings for the school. In addition, a balanced lighting system would optimize the impact of lighting on the students & ability to focus and learn.
